We welcome absolute beginners of all fitness levels, so your teen doesn’t need to be in peak shape to join. Customized Placement for Every Teen We don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach for teenagers. Because growth rates vary so much at this age, our team takes the time to work out the perfect training environment for your child.

  • The Assessment: After a discussion with our team, we decide if your teen is best suited for our Senior Youth group (ages 8–13) or if they are ready to step into the Adult classes with an experienced mentor.
  • The Goal: To ensure they are challenged, safe, and comfortable.

What You’ll Learn in Teens BJJ

  1. The Foundation: Fundamentals Program Every black belt started here. Our beginner-friendly curriculum focuses on the essential building blocks of Jiu-Jitsu. You will learn safe takedowns, how to maintain the guard, and the critical mechanics of control and escapes. We strip away the complexity so you can master the core movements first.
  2. Real-World Application: Self-Defense Before sport, there is survival. We teach you how to manage distance, use framing to create space, and utilize survival positions to stay safe. These are the skills that keep you protected in a real-world altercation.
  3. The Next Level: Intermediate & Advanced Once your foundation is solid, we open up the game. You will move into complex passing systems, submission chains, and combinations. This is where you learn to connect techniques, turning isolated moves into a fluid, dangerous game.
  4. Putting it Together: Live Rolling You can’t learn to swim without getting wet. “Rolling” (sparring) is how we test our skills, but at Hayabusa, it is always controlled, progressive, and safe. You will learn to apply your technique against resistance in a supportive environment.

You absolutely do not need any experience to step onto our mats. We utilize a step-by-step teaching method that breaks down even the most complex techniques into manageable parts. While our classes feature mixed skill levels, you will find the environment to be incredibly supportive, with senior students often helping beginners find their footing. Most importantly, our coaches know exactly how to adjust the intensity for newcomers, ensuring you learn at a pace that feels safe, comfortable, and controlled.
