Why We Don’t Offer Traditional Karate
Karate: Discipline and Structure, Limited Grappling
Traditional Karate can be excellent for teaching respect, focus, and structure — especially for children. Many schools emphasize:
• Kata (forms)
• Step-sparring
• Point-based striking
However, most Karate systems place limited focus on:
• Clinch fighting
• Takedowns
• Ground control
• Continuous pressure under resistance
In real situations, distance collapses quickly. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is built specifically for that reality.
Why Hayabusa Takes a Grappling-First Approach
We prepare students for realistic resistance, not choreographed exchanges. That requires training in:
• Takedown defence
• Ground fighting
• Continuous live sparring
• Clinch control
• Pressure-tested techniques
These are core pillars of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
What We Offer Instead
• Kids BJJ (Ages 4–7 & 8–13)
• Youth Wrestling
• Integrated striking fundamentals within grappling contexts
This creates genuine confidence because students experience what works.
