Taekwondo in St. Albert
Parents or Adults who are thinking about learning Taekwondo are usually looking for a combination of self defense, fitness, discipline and even some fun. These are all great goals and making some new friends along the way or earning a new coloured belt are added bonuses. Taekwondo is also an Olympic sport so becoming an Olympian may be a goal for those who start young enough. So why don’t we offer Taekwondo here at the Hayabusa Training Centre in St Albert?
As a parent, the first focus should be on effective self defense without resorting to punching and kicking. The confidence developed in grappling disciplines such as BJJ or Judo can sometimes be enough to simply dissuade bullies and aggressors from verbal or physical attacks. Secondly, the ability of our students with BJJ or Judo experience to defend themselves and their classmates against aggressive behaviours without punching or kicking, can de-escalate situations that simply doesn’t warrant a strike to the face, body or groin. We don’t want an unnecessary visit to the Principal’s Office if we can avoid it, and we certainly don’t want our child developing a reputation from excessive brutality if it can possible be avoided. This is what makes grappling a super power.
